Support For Blessings in a Backpack

This month Drexel was able to donate to the Blessings in a Backpack organization in Columbus, WI. Blessings in a Backpack is a non-profit organization that is currently feeding over 89,000 children in 1,100 schools in 47 U.S. states. One of those being in the Columbus, WI school district. The program allows one in four children to receive free/reduced meals at school to fulfill their daily needs. Many of these children have minimal incoming food at home on the weekends. This program allows not only the children to be fed at school, but also send meals in their backpack to hold them over until they return back to school on Monday. 

As a Result Of This Program…

By providing meals and food for these children during the week and on the weekends, it also provides the students a better chance at having educational success through improving their health, positive behavior and it has also resulted in improvement in their reading and writing skills.
