Welcome to Drexel Book Club!

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY BEFORE ENROLLING!

Drexel Book Club gives our full-time team members a chance to enhance themselves by reading 10 pre-selected books that cover a range of topics directly related to our core values. This is a challenge for professional and personal growth that is to be completed outside of work hours.

Once you fill out this form, the first three books will be shipped directly to your house with the cost of the books being covered by us! If audiobooks are more your speed, you may purchase on your own and submit an expense report through Paylocity for a reimbursement on the cost of the books (we do not reimburse for subscriptions). Your Head Coach will then approve the expense. If you’ve already read a book on the list for 1.0, 2.0, or 3.0, let Brenda Giebink know. She will send you a replacement book. *Please let Brenda know immediately if you prefer audiobooks so she can order accordingly.*

Each time you finish a book, you must set up a meeting with the appropriate Drexel Leader to discuss the book, AND you must also write a book report and email it to Caitlin Stoll, Brenda Giebink, your Department Leader, and your Store Leader. (Reading/listening and reports should be done outside of work hours; discussions with Leaders are on the clock.)  When you finish the set of books you are on and have met to discuss them, email Brenda. She will send you the next round of books when your reports have been approved.

This part is really important: These reports do not need to be college-level papers with double-spacing, page requirements, or citations. However, we do want to clearly see your summary of, and hear your take away from the book. Simply put, we want to have no doubt that you read the book, and that you have made some personal and professional connections to tell us about.  And while we don’t have a limit to the length (go ahead and write another book, if you like!), we do look for more than a brief list of bullet points. A summary and your clear understanding of the content along with personal and professional reflections ARE what we require.

If you finish all 10 books, reports, and discussions within a year of your book club start date, you will have earned a $1,000 payroll bonus! Any questions, please reach out to Brenda.
