Hi Jesse! Nice to hear from you. We are all fine, and really enjoying the deck–so great to have friends and family over for meals, with everyone admiring Mark’s amazing work. Mark has started on the outdoor oven and got the foundation laid. I’m really hoping he can finish it as I promised the 25 students I took to Rome in May that we’d have a reunion in September on our deck and we’d be able to compare our pizza made in a real wood-burning oven with those we ate in Rome! (I team-taught a class there with the president of Ripon College –his connections enabled us to stay at an amazing villa just outside of Rome. The villa had an outdoor kitchen to die for, including a gorgeous, tiled wood-burning oven. But I think ours, which will be made with the left-over stones from our fireplace, will be even prettier!).
